The Ivey Lane shop personnel represent a diverse mixture of employees: Caucasian, African American and Montagnard (from the mountains of South Vietnam). Each employee brings their unique talents to the table making equal contributions towards great teamwork and excellent finished products. With a combination of over 39 years of experience at Ivey Lane, each of these craftsmen are dedicated to their work. Using their great hand and eye coordination, each employee pays great attention to detail and workmanship. Besides working with natural stone, these men enjoy a variety of hobbies including golf, soccer, fishing and hunting. They also take a part in tending their own vegetables in the Ivey Lane community garden.
President: Pete Lane
Ask any of his employees and they will say that Pete is a man of integrity who is generous, compassionate and "committed for the long haul." Beginning work in the stone industry with Luck Stone in 1987, Pete quickly fell in love with the profound beauty of natural stone and was a very successful salesman with the company. The opportunity came for Pete to transfer out-of-state and increase his territory, but Pete and his wife, Leslie, wanted to begin their family, so he decided instead to put down roots in Greensboro. After much consideration and a modest start-up amount of $700, Ivey Lane was established in 1992. From its humble beginnings in a tiny shop in Jamestown, Ivey Lane has grown to include a 10,000 square foot fabrication shop, a state-of-the-art CNC machine and spacious showroom with dozens of samples and installation displays. Pete has cultivated Ivey Lane's loyal customer base which includes some of the most respected remodelers, builders, designers and cabinet companies in the state. Known for excellent service, supreme quality and a highly skilled staff, Ivey Lane has earned a reputation for being one of the Triad's best fabricators. A man with a servant's heart, Pete contributes to a handful of charitable organizations and Christian ministries in addition to being an active member of C12, a Christian businessman's association. In his spare time, Pete spends quality time with Leslie and their children, Will, Christin, Zach and Matt. He also enjoys fishing, watching football and walking his dogs, Maddie and Ace.
Shop Manager: Rick Rickman
Having many years of experience in quality control and plant managment in the steel fabricating industry made Rick Rickman a perfect choice for Ivey Lane's shop manager. Celebrating over 10 years of service after joining the team in 2002. Rick is the face of the shop, overseeing all of its fabrications and operations. He's the patriarch of large family including his wife of 35 years, Pat, his daughters, Erica, Tammy and Alexis and his seven grandchildren. In his free time, Rick enjoys family gatherings and gardening. A former Baltimore Oriole Minor League AA shortstop, Rick uses his great teamwork skills on a daily basis in managing the shop personnel and its workload. Known for being generous with his time, patient and paying great attention to detail have made him an excellent person to meet with customers for stone layouts. He is well-respected and loved by his families both at home and at work.
CNC Operator: Eddie Heldreth
You might say Eddie is a Jack of all trades, having 20 years of experience in the stone industry doing everything from measuring to fabricating to installing. As a part of the Ivey Lane family since 2007, Eddie has been praised by customers for both his knowledge as well as his easy going and friendly nature. As a husband to Sharon and father to two children, Scott and Rachel, Eddie enjoys spending quality time with his family. A big sports fan, Eddie also likes playing golf and watching football and basketball. "Being able to see a finished product gives you a sense of accomplishment" is one of the things Eddie likes most about his job. Putting all of his previous experience to great use, Eddie has transitioned nicely from working in the field to running the CNC machine.
Office Manager: Marti Smith
It's never a dull moment at Ivey Lane for Marti who stays busy juggling the install schedules, human resources and the company's financials. Her hardworking, responsible and patient nature suit her job to a tee and have made her an invaluable member of the Ivey Lane family. Like Rick, Marti has been at Ivey Lane since 2002 and her plans to retire one day from the company remain. Marti and her husband, Michael, both Greensboro natives, enjoy evening drives with the convertible top down and cheering for Carolina during football season. She is a proud mother to Chelsea, a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill in the competitive MAC program for accounting. She is also the doting mom to her beloved dogs, Bailey and Jack. There are many things that she enjoys about her job but perhaps her favorite is "getting phone calls from happy customers and talking to repeat customers that seem more like friends than customers."
Corporate Secretary: Leslie Lane
In addition to being a officer to the company, Leslie, Pete's wife, is our resident Jill of all trades. Working part-time on Mondays, Wednesdays amd Fridays, she offers assistance in a variety of capacities from sales to accounting to corporate projects. Leslie also works part-time as an admissions representative for Greensboro Academy and the new Summerfeild Charter Academy, two of National Heritage K-8 charter schools. As a busy mom of four, she spends much of her time cheering on the activities of Will and Christin, who attend East Carolina and NC State, respectively and volunteering at Zach and Matt's, Greensboro Academy. On her own time, Leslie loves reading, family camping trips and watching football. Leslie's favorite part of being at Ivey Lane is its family - "Our employees are family, they care about Ivey Lane and each other, and Pete and I feel blessed to have each and every one of them as part of our family."
